 o
Plant ID please

This plant keeps getting new leaves at the top but all the other leaves are dropping off. If it blooms I missed it. What is it? I am tempted to cut it out but if it will do something a little more worthwhile I will keep it in the flower bed.

It may be pokeweed.

It does resemble Phytolacca but that's got very visible buds at this point here. Could it be a Datura?

Looks like a Brugmansia to me.

Wait until it's a bit cooler. It looks like a Brugmansia to me, too. You'll be sorry if you cut it down now, and that's what it is! Mine has been blooming on and off all summer, but it's pretty hot now.

Thanks for the help. You guys sure know your plants. I am going to feel pretty silly if this ends up being a weed but I will give it a while longer before I take the ax to it just in case.
