Yellow wildflower?

This appeared in my garden. I imagine a bird brought the seed. It's in a part that I have yet to really work on, so I have to admit I don't know when it began flowering.

It reminds me of Yarrow...but I've never seen a yarrow with such "ball like" flowers...

tansy-now that seems right! How weird, I have "purple tansy" (lacy phacelia) and it looks so different. Must be a common name vs botanical name thing. Thank You!

dig it out now - it has horrible running roots - an absolute nightmare to get rid of.

Yes - don't let the plant go to seed or let the roots start running. It is tenacious. If it were in my yard, I'd remove it.
