This fruit comes from a shrub/tree growing outside our building and we can't ID it. It smells very sweet and appley, and the shrub was planted by a landscaper so maybe it's not a Florida native. Thanks.

We're coming up with custard apple and monkey apple but there are still discrepancies. This fruit appears to stay smooth skinned and not develop those scale-like green coverings when ripe.

We've gotten a definite ID. It's a pond apple (aka Alligator apple); Annona glabra.
