what is this grass?

When this grass (or sedge?) started growing, it didn't look especially weedy, so I let it go. Not sure I like it, but would love to know what it is. The leaves are round and hollow.

Thanks!

Not a grass but a rush. The common one we have in the east that looks like that is Juncus effusus.

Yup, no question about that! This is an area that retains water in the winter and spring. Plants that like wet feet do well in this part of the garden.

Sedges have edges,
Rushes are round,
Grasses have joints
(when the cops aren't around)
