Hi,

I saw these beautiful flowers at Pike Place Market yesterday. I wanted to know what the name and where I can possible buy them for next year. They were in a big hanging baskets hanging all around the eaves of the Market. They are like trailing vines.

Nasturtium, Tropaeolum majus.

Here is a link that might be useful: Nasturtium

The leaves and flowers are edible too. Has a mustard flavor, though the flowers considerably less so. Some colors also smell very nice. They are easiest to grow as an annual from seed, as they don't transplant very well.

And hummingbirds love them! I've never had much issue growing them from starts - I'm not patient enough to grow anything from seed :-) Starts should be available at any retail plant seller in our area next spring although there is still plenty of time to grow them from seed if you are a more patient gardener than I :-) They germinate in just a matter of days.

And they come in a wide range of colors. They are one of the flowers I plant in the veggie bed each year.
