| Congrats, you've come across Lachnanthes caroliniana, aka Redroot, a denizen of low flatwoods and coastal wetlands. The common name of this wildflower comes from the red sap exuded from the roots and rhizomes. |

| Thank you so much. I had a great day at Sandhills on Saturday seeing 35-40 different wildflowers and adding 20+ to my life list. If anyone lives near it is worth the visit. |
