This plant (or tree) voluntarily came up in my flower bed. At first I thought it was a sunflower, but it didn't develop a sunflower head. It is now a good 4 feet taller than my house. Large leaves, large, sturdy trunk. Does anyone recognize it and know its name? Thanks

Paulownia tomentosa, akak empress tree. Considered an invasive weed in some parts of the country.

A big, shady and messy tree - you probably won't want it right there by the house.
