OK, I am having some trouble identifying this plant. Even my Tree Surgeon next door neighbor doesn't know what it is.

It has long thorns (1-1.5"), fine while 5-petal flowers and red fruit (maturing from green to red).

What is it? It is growing like a shrub outside our house, but isn't necessarily a "shrub", as it hasn't been pruned in the two years we have lived here.
