Looks like the shining coralroot, Hexalectris nitida. Those are seed capsules, not the blooms. It's a parasitic orchid.

Looks to be an orchid--maybe something similar to Corallorhiza maculata (Spotted Coralroot orchid). I don't think the coralroot is in that area of Texas, but maybe it would give you a jumping off point. Sorry, I don't have time to research it myself right now.

Yes, I think it is H. nitida. My county (Travis) is in its range and there is a park in Dallas that says it is on Brackett soils under oaks and cedars. That about describes me to a T. The flowers are larger on the Hexalectris but they are kissing cousins. I wonder how I should germinate the seeds. I sure would not mind more of these in my woods close by. Maybe I should get a hold of someone at NPSOT.
