The tall one is a weed. The little one at the tip of your finger could be Coreopsis.

You can sink your container of purple coneflower seedlings in the ground outside before the ground freezes.

Ok how about this one? Thanks for reply! Looks like plantain leaves but the few pictures I have found of the plant at this stage do look similar to plantains.

you are new to gardening... yes???

you have done good ... but i want to tell you a few things.. so you dont give up ...

you are way out of cycle .... for next year.. you have to time this all out better ... i recommend the winter sowing forum ... if you are interested in growing perennials from seed ... your plants are too small.. to late in the season ...

second.. you will do much better.. if you use potting MEDIA in pots.. rather than dirt .... its all about how water moves thru the pot.. and dirt makes mud.. rather than a porous media that is good for plants ... i recommend the container forum.. or the perennial or annual forums ...

next.. they are not houseplants... in MI .. with your furnace blasting all winter.. they are not going to THRIVE indoors ... due to lack of humidity that plants need.. and probably lack of sunshine.. these are full sun plants... and that doesnt exist.. in MI.. in winter ... [note i said thrive.. you MIGHT get them to winter over indoors... but they wont be pretty]

you can do winter gardening in MI.. under lights ... but there is no time for you to buy and build a light stand..

that leaves you with the only option of planting them in the ground ... and hoping ma nature is kind to them .... and after last winter.. i wouldnt bet on that ... lol...

or.. with figuring out.. how to protect the pot all winter.. which is a challenge itself.. again.. you can probably get help in the perennial forum ...

whatever happens to these plants.. dont give up.. gardening is therapy ... and rather a cheap one ...
