Could be Elytrigia pontica?

hmmmm... interesting, very close to my plant. I wish I could find some more conclusive photos to help me pin this down!

I also found a reference to a similar plant, Elytrigia elongata, also listed by CalFlora. But I don't know how to clearly distinguish between them, and neither is convincingly close to my sample, in the photos I've found so far...

Later note:
Okay, E. pontica is generally called Rush Wheatgrass, and E. elongata is Tall Wheatgrass. However, numerous references (including one CalFlora note) refer to E. pontica as Tall Wheatgrass. So it appears that I may have to just settle on "Elytrigia sp" as my ID for this grass.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Best guess so far is Thinopyrum ponticum (Rush Wheatgrass, Tall Wheatgrass).
From www.saltlandgenie.org.au: "Tall wheatgrass is one of those species that has changed its Latin name a number of times. It has been variously referred to as Agropyron elongatum, Thinopyrum elongatum, Elytrigia pontica, Elytrigia elongata and (most recently) as Thinopyrum ponticum."
Native to Europe and Africa, introduced and naturalized here. Sometimes used in revegetation efforts.
