Not sure what this is

This grass is popping up sporadically in the yard for the first time this year and is apparent because the lawn is about dormant from the drought, yet this keeps growing and putting on seed heads.
At first I thought it was some type of Bermuda as it has a very similar habit and appearance. I compared it to some stolons of some common Bermuda in the yard and it is different in subtle ways. The main difference that I noticed is that the seed bearing stems on a panicle of common Bermuda radiate from a common point, whereas they spring from multiple levels on this plant's panicles.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Carol, I looked very hard at several species of crabgrass. I have a couple in the yard. This has a hard, thick rhizome like Bermuda, almost woody. Just doesn't seem the same. I may be wrong, but I don't think it is crabgrass. But keep the ideas coming! Thanx.

Still not sure, but...

I may have stumbled onto a possibility for this plant, torpedo grass or Panicum repens. Description and images seem to fill the bill. The USDA plants database shows it indigenous to Texas, so it may be sneaking up here.
