unknown plant in school garden

The previous gardener said she got this from a grower at the local farmer's market who said it was some kind of poppy. This doesn't look like any poppy I have ever seen. Anyone have any ideas? It is a perennial that dies back in the winter.

Thanks, all! The person taking over thought it was a weed and wanted to rip it out. Now I can tell them what it is. :)

If not precisely a weed, it is an incredible thug! Once established, it spreads very aggressively by underground rhizomes. In a client's garden, sprouts were coming up yards away from the mother plant. Cornell University has this to say about the plant:" Very aggressive and requires considerable effort to keep under control."
