The herb forum said to ask on this forum...sure looks like an oregano leaves to me and smells somewhat lemony... they say no its a weed
they are even growing in the other neighbors gravel .They are all downhill seems like from the neglected , abanoned raised herb garden bed

This is the original post - it is not any herb known to the regulars on the Herb Forum and does not look like Oregano. It is definitely not Thymus citriodorus.

Maybe Croton monanthogynus (Prairie Tea), which is in the Spurge family.

thanks all.....I think you all are right on. one source says its not for a tea....why call it prairie tea ,then?????

Common names, who knows? Maybe because it is scented, but I did see the following - link attached.

I saw your post on the herb forum and recognized it as something in the Euphorbia family (which includes spurges). Since it's a Euphorbia, it's toxic. It has white sap, and that's toxic. It's a common weed in prairies. It's even growing in my neighborhood here in Houston, which used to be a prairie.
