| I have often wondered what this flower was. It was found alongside the road here at the park, near the water. I also see it in the walking trail. There is always some water everywhere in south Mississippi. I'm not sure if it likes soggy soil or if thats just where I found it. I would love to know what this one is because it seems to present itself to me often. :) |

| Not marshmallow. There's a picture of my blooming marshmallow in the link below. Marshmallow has very pale pink flowers that are maybe 1.5 - 2" across and has velvet leaves. It is a tall plant, mine is 5' or more and its flowering stalks look similar in habit to its cousin the hollyhock. It is a hibiscus. Not H. trionum but another species. Carol's suggestion of H. asculeatus looks promising. FataMorgana |
