Mystery shrub in Florida

Found near Daytona Beach. The leaves and fruit have no suggestive fragrance, and the fruit is surprisingly soft. There a gelatinous round center there, with no discernible seed.

I didn't find it in my normal tree books, which only means that I'm looking at it cross-ways

Can you show the leaves and more of the plant, how large is it? Those kinda look like China berries.

RE: Mystery shrub in Florida

Could be popcorn tree/tallow tree berries.

Here is a link that might be useful: Triadica sebifera

RE: Mystery shrub in Florida

It could be a Devilwood ( Osmanthus Americanus).
