Growing in S.California,possibly an Elm.I think it has flowers or seeds in late Fall.

Ulmus parvifolia definitely, Fall seeding clinches it.

It's in Brawley.

Ulmus parvifolia was my first guess but the bark doesn't look quite right.

The bark can vary widely. Not to worry it's an U. parvifolia.
