| Stands about 7 foot tall. Leaves have no petiole, but are formed along the thick main stem. Blooms have 20+ yellow ray flowers and numerous short yellow stamens (asteraceae) and fairly indistinct. They were blooming here in upstate NY in late Aug. > Sept. Will follow up with additional pics I took.

| Definitely Silphium Perfoliatum. Very hardy but, because we only have one plant in our garden, all the seeds are non-viable. Apparently you have to have 2 plants that are genetically different in order for fertilisation to occur. |
