It could possibly be some form of asplenium (staghorn fern)

I'm not a fern person, but that sure looks like a staghorn fern to me. Maybe there's a fern forum on here for you to get help on care for it?

thanks guys, i was utterly shocked by the fact that it is most likely staghorn fern , it does not have any base sheild leaves.

If it's a staghorn, it's Platycerium. Asplenium is usually called bird nest fern. A look at the back of a leaf could be helpful to decide.

My guess is Asplenium antiquum, possibly 'Crissie'.

Fronds look to thin for staghorn. And there's no evidence of basal fronds.

Leaning that way too, Dave. I have that plant. Went outside to look at it just now. The older leaves have lines of sori (spores) on the back, but the newer ones do not. The 1st pic looking down from the top is still making me hesitate to call it that though. Had this plant for a couple years and it always has a 'hole' in the middle where new leaves are forming. In the above pic, the one leaf could just be flopped over, hiding that from view, or it may not be as pronounced in a more juvenile plant, IDK.

I think A. antiquum has been relegated to synonym of A. nidus.
