Can you provide a close-up of the flowers? From your photo best guess would be a tree mallow, aka Lavatera.
Here is a link that might be useful: Lavatera/Mallow Info

Thank you for the reply the information you provided will suffice as my client just wanted a plant with a similar look. Many Regards Ophelia

Could also be a Rose of Sharon (Althea).
|
I would say this is Lavatera olbia or a hybrid. (It isn't Rose of Sharon - you can see if you zoom in). Just for further confusion Rose of Sharon refers to Hypericum calycinum in the UK. It is generally known here by its proper name Hibiscus syriacus. opheliajvs - if you want a tree mallow there are some more delicately coloured ones available. Google the botanical name and you will find several cultivars and hybrids. A favourite is L olbia 'Barnsley'. BTW they are sub shrubs, so fairly short lived (ie just a few years) and prone to winter damage in cold areas. It is evergreen. Hibiscus syriacus would give a similar look and be more permanent, providing you are growing it in a milder part of the country. It is deciduous.
