It's a Four-0-Clock plant, grows from tubers, easily propagated by seed, cuttings or tubers. Botanically known as Mirabilis. Could be M. jalapa or M multiflora. What zone are you in?

Thank you - what do you mean by Zone is that time Zone? sorry if i sound thick but i am new to this. if it is time zone then British summer time.

Sorry, Sally. I assumed you were in America. I was refering to our American system of refering to United States Department of Agriculture (U.S.D.A.) growing Zones, which are based on the lowest temperature an area gets. It is helpful in ascertaining which plants will be hardy for us and thus helps Americans distinguish annuals from perennials.

Sally - over here it is usually called Marvel of Peru. It will be perennial for you but will die right down in the winter. To propagate just move some tubers to where you want them.

As you have discovered we don't use zones here as our climate is far more homogeneous than in the US. I've put 8/9 on my heading but it's a bit rough and ready and doesn't really equate to a US 8/9 because we don't get the summer heat they do.

Your plants are spectacular specimens!

Well said, Flora.

And, although you should get tons of seeds, they may not make the same color flowers, if that's a concern.

Your problem may be having too many. It comes up every where from seed. I like it but it has crowded my day lilies. Does yours have a nice fragrance? Mine smells wonderful in the evenings and attracks big hawk moths and hummingbirds.
