Does anyone have an idea on this one?

Found in a field at Cape May New Jersey on Sept. 15th. Tiny pink flower, 5 pedals, could find no leaves on the stem, full sun. thanks for the help.

Suggestive of something in the Pink family, Caryophyllaceae. Start your search with Dianthus armeria and go from there.

I looked at the Caryophyllaceae on the web sites I've been using and I've yet to find anything that looks like it. It wasn't Dianthus armeria but I'll keep looking. Thanks for the help.

Try expanding your search to other members of the Caryophyllaceae such as Silene or Petrorhagia. Particularly have a look at P. prolifera.
