Interesting Form...

Shot in mid-August in a woodland area, this is supposed to be a native plant in this part of the country. I've never seen it before though -- at least I don't think I have. Hoping someone can ID it for me or at least point me in a general direction.

Thank you in advance!

Any picture of the leaves?

Unfortunately, I was too camera happy to be thinking of what's needed to ID the plant =\ So, I didn't take shots of the leaves. They're kinda visible on the right side, though... Longish, narrow....

I think what I photographed are the seeds of the plant... Hoping someone recognizes 'em =) But not expecting 100% positive ID.

Thinking Thalicrum sp., but if those leaves in the background belong to it than it would have to be something else.

I have no clue what your plant is (LOL--I can't even tell if it's a shrub or what--I think I'm needing stronger glasses now), but I ran across an amazing resource for New York. And since plants don't know state boundaries, it will be helpful for surrounding areas, too.

Here is a link that might be useful: New York Flora Atlas

With your hints and cross-reference with the collections database of the botanic garden I found the plant in, I'm fairly confident that what I found were the seeds of the Tall Meadow Rue (Thalictrum pubescens). Those background leaves turn out to belong to a type of Sunflower I photographed after these seeds.

Thank you for your input!!
