Parthenocissus quinquefolia or similar species.

Did you rototill that garden this year? I made the mistake a few years back when I emptied a compost bin into a garden bed of digging a bit too deeply into the soil under the bin. Virginia creeper had roots running through there. *All* the rototilled creeper root bits sprouted. Took maybe 2-3 years of pulling all the sprouts to get rid of it.

A native vine with great fall color.

Thanks all for your responses.

That was what I suspected.
We have a 30 year old vine, which fruits around now, and the birds love it.
So, the culprits are the birds and the seeds.

I suppose, I have to cut it down, before the fruits are ripe.
