Could someone Identify this plant please

My cousin got this plant at the funeral of her Grandmother. Normally I don't think she would care all that much about what the plant name is but as you can see, the bud on it is ummmmmmm, well........interesting. We have a theory that her grandmother, who is also my aunt, found a way to embarrass her from beyond the grave and have dubbed the tree "The HoowHaw tree". Our loved one was quite the jokester. We know of course she really has nothing to do with the flower looking the way it does, but she would have gotten a huge kick out of this tree blooming for the first time. Soooooo, we'd just like to know what it's called and if it always blooms like this or if this is atypical. I was thinking of trying to find this plant for other members of the family to put a smile on their face when they are missing her, but I have NO Idea what to even tell a florist/nursery about it to get the name. I've asked several nurseries and they say they don't know what it is either. Any help would be most appreciated!
