| Hi,
We have this plant and have no idea what it is? Can anyone identify it? It would mean a lot. We live in NY and keep it by the window. So far so good. |

| Appears to be some type of Coleus. You can pinch it to give more compact form. |

| As seedmoney said, it's coleus. Grown inside the colors tend to vary from the way they look when grown outside IME, so I'm guessing that you may not get a specific variety suggestion. |

| Yes, you probably won't get any closer than coleus - there are several thousand to choose from, and like nhbabs says, light determines the shades of color. It would probably be happier in a larger pot. |

| Yes give it some good potting mix in a large pot. |

| Hi & welcome to Gardenweb. Agree about the bigger pot. It's an amazing plant for that size of pot. Don't let it get too dry although it likes to stay moist (not soggy.) Broken or cut stems are easy to root, right in the soil next to "mama," or in another pot to multiply your lovely plant, or even in a bottle of water. Coleus is responsible for creating a lot of propagation junkies from folks who have the tendency. Pinching a growth tip will create a bifurcation at the tip, or at the node directly below the tip. Removing a leaf along the stem almost always inspires that node to grow a new branch. A combination of these methods can transform your "tall and slim" plant into a "bushy little shrub" if that's what interests you. |
