Wondering about this:

In better condition in the movie: http://magnoliaforever.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/cache.jpg

I assume some variegated Aucuba? I'd like to use the same variety. Expert opinion?

Here is a link that might be useful: 49,_rue_Brillat-Savarin.JPG

I just looked on Google maps street view. The plant looks much healthier there. I'm thinking it could be Eleagnus pungens 'Maculata' or similar.

google street view---what a great idea, Flora. I was just looking at google earth street view about 1/2 mile from our home, and there was a moose on the side of the road.

Well, there was a moose there however long ago Google filmed your area. The car parked outside my house on street view was traded in over three years ago.

Could it be Aucuba japonica 'Crotonifolia'?

I think the leaves are too small for Aucuba and the colouration does not look spotty or blotchy. Also there is something about the angle the foliage hangs at which doesn't say 'Aucuba' to me.

Hi Flora
Looking at picture on google maps, do you see, what looks like red berries? Especially in the top right of image.

Yes - I did see but I thought they could be red leaves from the Parthenocissus up the wall behind trapped in the foliage. (The pic is taken in February). However, I am not totally sold on the Eleagnus idea and, having found some other images, I think it is probably Aucuba, after all. Between Google Map's 2009 pic and the Wiki 2012 pic the shrub appears to have become pretty ill.
