Name That Plant!

Vetch?

I've been lazy about weeding my flower beds this summer, and am now regretting it. Found this growing in one of them. Its got lovely little purple flowers. But it also appears to have a vining style of growth. I've tentatively IDed it as a member of the vetch family. Can someone confirm that? How invasive is it? Should I pull it or leave it?

Vetch. It has many seeds and really long runners. I would get rid of it.

Quick. Pull it out. They seem to throw their thousands of seeds everywhere and they all germinate.

Horrible thing. It gets all through my native grasses and seeds like crazy.

That seems to be Vicia villosa ssp. varia, which is commonly called Smooth Vetch or Garden Vetch. Vicia villosa has flowers in 1-sided racemes, while V. cracca flowers are not secund.
