I`m at it again today. I thought this might be gayfeather, but i don`t think it is. It has one central spike sourrounded by four offshoot spikes. The leaf looks vaugeuly cannibis like. Thanks

Try comparing to Vitex agnus castus.

fatamorgana is pbb right. It looks more like a vitex than a buddleia.. (vitex are also fragrant)

Definitely not a Buddleja - Vitex IMO.

yeah but growing beside the highway wild, and very herb looking not shrubby. Very sage smelling

amazingly I do think it is vitex ! wow I`m going to attemt to dig it up if it rains this weekend

TxDot has planted thousands along highways across the state.
Don't get arrested removing it. They strike root fairly well from
firmwood cutting especially under mist.
