| Can anyone recommend a thorny ground cover hardy to zone 5B (SW Michigan)? Trying to discourage dog mess being left in front of our bushes. |

| Berberis thunbergii is potentially an invasive species in Michigan. Had you thought about an animal repellent? Havahart makes one that is reasonably effective - Critter Ridder, you'd want the longer lasting granular product, not the spray, for putting along your shrub borders. There are others. |
