The tall plant with the purple flowers is Russian sage, Perovskia atriplicifolia. You can leave it as is for winter interest and then if you want to make it smaller, cut it back to about 6" in early Spring. You'll get new growth and it will look a little tidier, but it is by its nature a loose, long-stemmmed plant.

I can't really see the other plants very well, but I suspect the one with yellow flowers is a weed. But don't pull it out until you have an ID! It would be helpful to have pics that focus on the flowers, stems and leaves of each plant.

Yellow looks like Hieracium. Purple groundcover, Lythrum?
