| It's a cudweed, probably purple cudweed, Gnaphalium purpureum (syn. Gamochaeta purpurea (L.) Cabrera) or Pennsylvania cudweed, Gamochaeta pensylvanica (Willd.) Cabrera. This whole group of plants is in flux; some have been reassigned to Pseudognaphalium, others to Gamochaeta. All cudweeds are important host plants for the American Lady Butterfly, Vanessa virginiensis. |
