but seems more robust and I don't ever trmember seeing flowers on it.It is in a very shady area in under trees.
It is about 2 feet high and maybe 6 feet or so in diameter.
Since I think I can only upload one image per post I intend to reply to this post 2 or 3 times with different pictures.

Not Vinca minor or major, Lucy. Maybe Sarcococca ruscifolia?

Here is a link that might be useful: Sarcocca ruscifolia.

Sarcococca crossed my mind as well but the habit looks a bit lax. Possibly Leucothoe?

Thanks!
Well it is the first time I noticed this plant in the 25 years I have been in the garden. So I think I will have the patience to wait until next year when I will keep an eye on any flowers. That might help.
I didn't notice any berries on it today -I will have a closer look tomorrow(maybe I will be able to see where any flowers or fruit have been if they have dropped off)

Leocothoe was my first thought as well.

I'm definitely still going with Leocothoe.

Yep. Now I see those old flowers I'm going with Leucothoe too.

thanks.
I will keep a look out next year for the flowers. Maybe I can find other spots in the garden for it as it seems to have spread out via its roots and so I will easily propagate it.
I am learning that Leucothoe is supposed to be useful grown next to Rhododendrons and I have a few of them.
