Floridian (potentially edible) fruit - Please help?

SOletsgo

I found this plant on a walk and I believe that I remember that its fruit is edible but I certainly don't want to be wrong. I've googled this plant as best as I can and no internet site seems to know what it is. There's a lot more fruit on the bush, so I'd like to know quickly.
The fruit itself is a reddish color when ripe and the flowers are a multi-petaled, sharp, and white. The leaves are green, with sharp tips such as holly leaves have, but are a bit thicker than holly leaves and a different shade of green. I live on the east coast of FL.
Thank you in advance for your help!
