Sedges ID A

Could someone tell me what this tall sedge is? I'm in N. VA on a mtn...cove forest so quite damp....this sedge is my height (5' 3) and seems to have all long, spindly leaves....no basal clump.

Thank-you!

This pic shows overall form....next pic is close up of seed heads.

Could this also be a rush (Juncus)?

    Esh,

I'm sure that this one has edges so I was going w/sedges but apart from that I am not very good at telling these things apart. Could some Juncus sp have edges?

    It's really hard to photograph edges...but I tried :)

If it is perfectly round like a straw then it is a rush. If it is like a blade of grass, that has "edges".

Thanks Esh! Looking from the bottom of a blade you can see a triangle....is it possible that this is Carex vulpinoidea ?

It does look like C. vulpinoidea ..... or C. fissa, C. annectens, C. crus-corvi, C. gravida, and C. decomposita (plus others). That group is difficult to distinguish from photographs. But I do think it is one of the Carex species.
