Fuzzy Green Leaves, Purple Underside

I can't seem to make this plant happy. The bottom layer of leaves keeps slowly dying. This happens every week or two. It's only a few inches tall, the top sides of the leaves are fuzzy and green, the bottom sides are purple and kind of shiny. The stems are also kind of fuzzy. I'm trying to figure out what it is so I can research what kind of environment it likes. Thanks!

An African violet, perhaps.

Definitely. To see flowers, give it stronger light.

But make sure it's light and not direct sunshine. There's an African Violet Forum on here with a FAQ.

Here is a link that might be useful: African violets

It appears to be in a pot with no holes. It can be difficult to give a plant in that type of pot the correct amount of water. You might consider a new pot with drainage holes. They like a good soak now and then (can do it in the sink) but can dry out a bit between waterings.

A window with shades partially open can give them the filtered light they prefer. They also do very well under fluorescent lights. If you fertilize them regularly they will produce flowers almost year round. And if you want more they are really easy to propagate by leaf cuttings.
