Photographed over the weekend in Virginia, zone 7a. This seed head spanned at least 10 inches in length and several inches in diameter. Total height of the (thick) flower stalk was about 3-1/2 feet. The stem emerged from sword-shaped blue-grey leaves that stood about 2/3 of the height of the stalk... looked like an Iris, but have never seen a Iris with seeds like this! Any ideas? Thanks!
