That is why it looks so familiar!! I have had "adult" delphiniums before. Thank you! I did sow some delphinium here sometime back. I do not remember what kind. I have never ever had any get this large before, due to being in the south. I think that is why I failed to put it on my list (no expectation). Yahoo!

I think it looks more like a Dicentra species than Delphinium. Sometimes my Dicentras will sprout up when they are supposed to be dormant.

Hmm, other possibilities might be pasqueflower (Anemone pulsatilla), or painted daisy (pyrethrum). Dicentra is also a strong contender.

But in any case, definitely not ragweed.

lol So, I have sowed/planted bleeding heart (though possibly further back...I removed tags because it did not show up in the spring), delphinium, and Red Robinson Chrysantheum (aka painted daisy) all in that same area. Either way, sounds like I should leave it there and see what happens. :)

Oh that's funny that you have several of the possibilities. I'm going to bet on the painted daisy. It will be fun to wait and see which one it turns out to be!

I am leaning towards painted daisy, too. At least I will be happy with any of the three outcomes. :)
