ID Help With Blue Aster Like Flowers

I am trying to distinguish between the blue Asters.
This first one is at least six feet tall and very broad, growing in a wet area. The leaves are smooth edged and lancolete.

The second has a simialr flower that is bluer than it looks in photo. The leaves are toothed and shaped different. It is only 1-2 feet tall and grows in drier area.

Second has leaves resembling Aster divaricatus (don't know current botanical name) but there are a great many different species.

I know you're not in New England, but I have always found the attached link helpful.

Here is a link that might be useful: Asters and Goldenrods of NE

Asters are host plants for Pearly Crescent Butterflies and make great nectar waystations for southbound migrating Monarchs.

Symphyotrichum puniceum - look into this species for the first plant. It grows near our spring in wet soil, is over 6 feet tall. Stems have some hairs on them.

The guides are great, I appreciate them. I believe now that the first one is Purplestem Aster, as carol suggested. It is at least seven feet tall, has a purplish, hairy stem and has a very wet footprint.
On the second one, I am going back tomorrow to look closer; the only thing that seems close and has those winged stems is Crookedstem Aster.
Thanks everyone.
Charles
