| Can anyone tell me the name of this plant . It is a solitary volunteer . Not sure how it got here but it is an unusual looking bloom . Would love to have more of them . It was growing beneath a bunch of weed leaves so is straggly right now .
Signet p.s. will be posting about 2 other plants & looking for id's for those too please. |

| not sure why photo didnt come up . I linked to a photo on my computer ? |

| The flowers remind me a lot of Cuphea petiolata, but I'm not sure about the foliage. It is a bit hard to tell from that photo and the fact that the plant is not growing in its usual habit. Google it and see what you think. Dee. |

| whoo hoo , yes that is it ! a Cuphea . Never heard of that before. What is its usual habitat please? Signet |
|
| Sorry, I think you misread what I said. I said usual habit (as in shape and size) not habitat (as in place of residence). Does that make sense? |
|
| Habit and Habitat are probably both wrong for this plant. It hails from the tropics and wants warmth, bright light and free draining soil. |
|
| I see there are temperate species as well. I've only ever grown or seen Tropical and Subtropical types. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Genus Cuphea
