2 tropical ornamentals in China

These two photos are taken a few days ago on the coast of China across from Taiwan.

1. A srubby oranamental flower. I keep thinking this is a relative to penstemon?

I'm still looking them up myself. The first one I'm pretty sure is in the crossvine family, but I don't know the genus yet. The second one, is it a privet (Ligustrum)?

The first one looks like Podranea ricasoliana.

What are the leaves like of the second one? Is that one in the top left corner?

I believe that's the leaf, yes.
