I'm thinking it may be Gleditsia triacanthos Sunburst - "Golden Honey Locust" - you just might have to get out that ladder to confirm whether they are remnant flowers before setting of seeds. You might be able to confirm by grabbing some leaves and taking to a nursery for confirmation. If that seems to be right, just read up as (apart from landscaping such as where they are and can do little harm) Gleditsia have a reputation for suckering.

Thank you alisonoz. I don't like plants that sucker and it's hard to remove them if they do. I just hope it wont. I will go by this weekend and get a little sample for myself =) Will give you an update when i get some answers from nursery.

nevermind, i found them on the internet ;-)

SOME locusts are furious seeders .. and put out lots of suckers .. as their surface roots are on top of the soil .. and any nick from a lawnmower will cause that root to sucker ...

when i was searching for trees .. i was told they are nice park or golf course trees.. but MIGHT BE very problematic in a lawn ... especially if you want to do any gardening in that yard ..

you can do much better than this tree.. and i suggest you look to the tree forum after you get this ID ... and clearly define what you want from a tree ...

and .. personally.. i would not call that an upright tree ... so you confuse me with your word choice ...

bottom line.. there are a lot of pretty trees.. but you might not want them in your yard ...

but if you make an informed choice.. all the power to you ...
