Resembles garlic mustard but not aroma, resembles violets but root seems wrong. Growing in October. Any ideas?

Violet; they grow almost anywhere there is some shade or even full sun. They give nice ground cover in shady areas but will try to take over if they are in any flower bed. The best blooms I have seen were when I lived in Michigan. There they have Blue, Purple, yellow as well as white blooms, much larger than here in Texas as well as more blooms per plant. Here I like letting them grow where not much of anything else grows under my trees.
