After some searching ( because it seems this forum is just about dead) I think I have an answer.
A type of .... Aglaonema?

Can anyone confirm? Or give me the "type" name?

I would say probably not aglaonema, you "usually" get some sort of leaf variation with those not a solid green.
What are the wirey bits going down into the pot - are they aerial roots? It might be a type of philodendron?

Doesn't look like Aglaonema to me either.

This forum is an active one.....people simply don't post wild guesses (usually) . You might consider other images from different angles, and give us something by which to judge the size of the leaves, plant.

You may also consider posting images in the Houseplants Forum.

Hey guys. Thanks for your replies. Those are not roots in the picture. They are actually stems. They are fleshy but I wonder if they'd harden over time? I'll try to take another picture and post it. Doing everything from my phone so it is tough.
I was thinking "cast iron plant" too. Ive just never seen this plant before so I'm dying with curiosity!

I haven't been on the forums in over a year ( had another baby, no time for gardening and plant hobby) I just remember it being more active back then.

Congrats on the baby & glad you're back!

This late in the year, plant mysteries have mostly been solved. 'Tisn't the season. Hope you'll be around to see the difference in spring!

Ditto what Rhizo said about house plant forum... where the first advice would probably be to remove that wrap stuff from the pot. Does the pot have drain holes?

"They are actually stems. They are fleshy but I wonder if they'd harden over time? " Not sure if you're saying they're branches/trunks or petioles (connecting leaf to trunk?)

Sorry, meant to give an example in reference to the "stem" comment. I'm not sure if they are trunks or not. It is what is connecting the root to the leaf. It feels fleshy but looks like it is starting to harden at the soil level and moving up. It is very similar to what a Jade plant does. Not sure if that helps? But the leaves are not anything like a Jade, more like a tree leaf. More pictures coming and I will definitely post on the House plant forum as well. Thanks!

That looks like some sort of Ficus.

Ardisia elliptica I believe.

Here is a link that might be useful: the Ardisia elliptica
