so I am posting this here because the actual propagation forum doesnt have an option to post a pic and I dont know any other way except to put it on another website - although I also don't know what kind of cactus this is - when you see the pic - I am wondering if that new chute in the pic can be taken off and grown?

. . . also I bought this at some store a long time ago (maybe walmart) - I had to cut it because it seemed like it was diseased but this new chute is growing out of it; before it was cut it was rounded at the top & if you look at it straight down the pricks were all geometrically pleasant asthetically, it was just a foot or so tall in my apartment for years now that it was planted it grew about 3 ft before I cut it I dont know how much more it would have grown - I would like to plant the new chute.
