This plant is down the street in the corner of a yard. There are tons of beautiful plants here, and I keep trying to catch the guy outside to ask him, but I never see him.

A little more zoomed in.

Indeed, thanks saltcedar! I see this is very cold intolerant. Since we are only 7b and its planted in the ground, maybe this guy just saves seeds and starts them next year or buys new ones and replants them? I wonder if it was cut down to the ground if it could survive and re sprout?

If i catch him outside, i will ask him!

Nope, its toast as soon as it freezes down. It must be dug and brought into a greenhouse for Winter. Never seen any seeds as most seem to be sterile hybrids.

M. laxa does tolerate more cold but it's white, not red or pink.

Here is a link that might be useful: Mandevilla laxa

We have a hanging basket one, and we overwinter it under lights.
