Looks like loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) to me. Pretty common small landscape tree that produces edible fruit sometime in the winter/spring. I've seen it pop up in urban forests, but I don't think it's invasive. That one looks like it's resprouting from a stump, which might explain the especially large leaves. Desirable IMO because I like the fruit.

I looked at Google and I think your right! That may be why the FIL had it in his yard- he loved fruit and would try anything. And the big leaves are probably because it has been cut back when they did some clearing AND it is growing in the shade. I think I will try to move it this winter. Thanks
