What tree is this? Some kind of cypress maybe?

Can anyone identify this tree?

upper image: The tree in question is BEHIND the gum tree.
lower image: Is a side view of about 3 or 4 of the trees.

It a low (20ft-30ft) wide (40-60ft) cypress looking tree. A little yellow on the "leaves". No central trunk as such. More like a bunch of trunk like branches from a central base. Sorry for the photo quality. I do not live in the country anymore and had to take them from Google street view.

Yes, the top one might be a yellow form of Monterey cypress. The "gum tree" looks like a weeping bottlebrush, as far as can be made out.

Maybe. The Monterey cypresses I have seen have a more gnarled and twisted trunk. Here is a better photograph:)

Where is this tree growing? Location is always helpful to narrow down possibilities.

To check, pick foliage and, if present, cone samples of what you think is definitely a yellow Monterey cypress and take them to the tree(s) in question and hold them beside one another, compare their structure and aromas.

The plant is growing about 40 miles/60 kilometres south of Melbourne, Australia. The environment is coastal with almost continuous wind and an average high temperature range of 55-80 fahrenheit/13-27 celsius.

Indeed. It appears that Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) is very common in the area I mentioned. Thanks for the assistance everyone:)
