Name That Plant!

Weed or wildflower?

This plant was beginning to take over an unkempt flower bed filled with Lobelia siphilicata. This one had now exceeded their height of about 3'. Deducted that it is a weed/wildflower or at least a volunteer (primarily due to its growth rate and the fact that it was not present in the bed the previous year) but it was too interesting to ignore. Anyone know what it might be? Thanks for your help!

It looks like one of the weedy Epilobiums, aka Willow herb.

That does seem to be it. E. glandulosum or Northern Willow Herb. Thanks, Carol23!

as to your title .... anything that outgrow a space.. is. theoretically .... a weed ..

to transform it back to a valuable plant .. presuming you need the space.. or are complaining in that regard ...

you simply need to be more aggressive with it.. in spring cull time..

i call that: TEACH IT A LESSON... in good manners.. lol ..

you probably know that... but i always try to teach the lurkers ...
