Younger tree of same species...still has some leaves. This tree flowers earlier in the spring than most....white flowers...I *think* it flowered before it "leafed".

Looks like some kind of Cherry (Prunus species).

A common weed in my area, where we see it growing up through other trees on forested land same as in your picture.

Yes, it is the same species frequently planted intentionally, as an orchard fruit ('Bing', 'Lambert' etc.).

Aagh! Shoot! Should I be getting rid of this species? By the time I have rid the woods of all the invasives there won't be anything left!

Eurasian species are prevalent in urban areas here. Many places you would be starting over from scratch if you managed to clear out all the exotics.
